Marvel Movies Box Office: Every Film by Gross

Every Marvel movie with a reported theatrical gross, in two tables: the 38 MCU films first, then the 41 Marvel films made by Sony, Fox and other studios. The MCU films alone have taken about $35.0 billion, more than any other film franchise.

Two things stand out. Avengers: Endgame is still on top at $2.8 billion, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day has jumped straight to second, ahead of Infinity War; Sony’s Spider-Man films have been the MCU’s most reliable earners. At the other end, the post-2021 era has produced most of the bottom ten, led by The Marvels at $206 million.

Marvel movies outside the MCU by box office

Before Marvel Studios made its own films, it licensed its characters to other studios, and some of those films are still among the biggest superhero hits ever. These 41 films have grossed about $16.1 billion between them. Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 leads at $891M; the highest any of them reaches on the combined Marvel chart is #14.

A few patterns: Sony’s Spider-Man films earn the most, Fox’s Deadpool films out-grossed every mainline X-Men movie, and the 2020s Sony spin-offs (Morbius, Madame Web, Kraven) are at the bottom alongside Punisher: War Zone.

Box office by phase

Phase Three (2016–2019) is the MCU’s box office peak, with six films over $1 billion. Phase Four and Five earned less on average, partly because of the pandemic and partly because there were more releases, including several aimed at Disney+. Phase Six has opened strongly with First Steps ($522 million) and Brand New Day.
