Deadpool 2 exists in three versions: the R-rated theatrical cut from May 2018, a longer unrated cut, and a PG-13 re-edit that played in theaters at Christmas.
- Theatrical cut (2018): The version released in theaters on May 18, 2018, and the one most streaming services carry.
- The Super Duper $@%!#& Cut: An unrated extended edition that premiered at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2018 and came on the home release next to the theatrical cut. It restores footage cut from the theatrical release, bringing the film closer to the length of director David Leitch’s first cut. Critics were mixed on whether the extra material helps.
- Once Upon a Deadpool (PG-13): A family-friendly re-edit in theaters from December 12 to 24, 2018. New scenes frame the story as Deadpool reading it to a kidnapped Fred Savage, a parody of The Princess Bride. Ryan Reynolds only agreed to it if money went to charity, so Fox gave $1 per ticket to the “Fudge Cancer” campaign. It came to digital and Blu-ray on January 15, 2019.
