Marvel in 2024
Deadpool & Wolverine was the only MCU film of 2024 and also its first R-rated one. It opened on July 26, grossed $1.338 billion and became the highest-grossing R-rated film ever at the time of its release. It also showed what the Fox purchase made possible. Hugh Jackman returned as Wolverine, and the film was packed with surprise cameos from the Fox years.
Sony's Spider-Man Universe struggled. Madame Web won three Razzies, and Kraven the Hunter, which made $62 million, was reported to be the series' last film. On Disney+, X-Men '97 revived the 1990s cartoon, and Agatha All Along carried the revived Marvel Television label. At Comic-Con, Marvel announced Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday.
