About I Am Groot: Season 2
Season 2 brings five more shorts with Baby Groot. The titles give the flavor: "Are You My Groot?," "Groot Noses Around," "Groot's Snow Day," "Groot's Sweet Treat" and "Groot and the Great Prophecy." Each is a quick, nearly wordless gag piece, and the final short brings in a big guest.
Kirsten Lepore returned to write and direct, with Craig Rittenbaum and Alex Scharf producing. James Gunn wasn't credited as an executive producer this time. Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper are back as Groot and Rocket, Fred Tatasciore returns and a familiar voice from What If...? drops in. The season premiered on September 6, 2023, as part of Phase Five. It keeps the photoreal look, with Trixter joining Luma Pictures on "Groot's Snow Day." SuperHeroHype gave it 5 out of 5.

Spoiler Spoilers for I Am Groot: Season 2: tap to reveal
- Jeffrey Wright's Watcher crosses over from What If...? in "Groot and the Great Prophecy."
How to watch it
Watch season 1 first, but continuity hardly matters; each short stands alone and all five fit into a quarter-hour. Like season 1, they sit between Guardians of the Galaxy and Vol. 2. Save "Groot and the Great Prophecy" for last; its crossover surprise makes What If...? the natural next step. These work well for families and for Guardians fans looking for something short between bigger releases.
What to watch before I Am Groot: Season 2
I Am Groot: Season 2 builds on these earlier titles, listed in release order:
- Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
