About The Daily Bugle: Season 1
The first season of The Daily Bugle launched in late 2019 as a fake news broadcast set right after Spider-Man: Far From Home. J. Jonah Jameson treats the bombshell from that film's mid-credits scene as the story of the century. Across short episodes, Jameson rails against Spider-Man, airs Flash Thompson's phone footage of the Tower Bridge attack and covers stories like Coney Island reopening and the UK billing someone for the bridge damage.
Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios produced it as marketing for Far From Home's home release, with Heather Traska and Jon Watts directing. J.K. Simmons plays Jameson, the role he first played in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films. The six episodes went up on YouTube between October 23 and November 20, 2019, following a conspiracy-style news website that launched that September. Reviewers liked it as a fun, low-key piece of MCU expansion and singled out Simmons' return.
Good to know
- The look and tone parody online conspiracy broadcasts, a long way from the newspaper Jameson ran in the Raimi films.
- Simmons is playing a reimagined version of the Jameson he played in the Raimi trilogy (2002–2007).
- The companion TheDailyBugle.net site parodied conspiracy news sites and even ran fake testimonials about the Blip.
Spoiler Spoilers for The Daily Bugle: Season 1: tap to reveal
- The October 30, 2019 episode, "Spider-Man Unmasked," has Jameson replay Mysterio's video that exposes Peter Parker.
- The bombshell is Mysterio's doctored final video, which the Bugle airs: it frames Spider-Man for the London attack and names Peter Parker as Spider-Man.
How to watch it
Watch Spider-Man: Far From Home first, including the mid-credits scene, or most of the jokes won't land. The episodes are very short, so you can watch the whole season in one sitting before starting Spider-Man: No Way Home. Season 2 then picks up in the run-up to that film. It's for fans who want every bit of Spider-Man connective tissue and anyone who just enjoys Simmons shouting about Spider-Man.
What to watch before The Daily Bugle: Season 1

- Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
- Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
- Avengers: Endgame (2019)
- Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
