Who is Ms. Marvel?

Kamala Khan was created by Sana Amanat, Stephen Wacker, G. Willow Wilson, Adrian Alphona and Jamie McKelvie. Her solo Ms. Marvel series launched in 2014. She's a Pakistani-American teen from Jersey City who takes her name from her idol, Carol Danvers, and she was the first Muslim character to headline a Marvel comic. Her first collection, No Normal, won a Hugo Award. She was originally an Inhuman, and in 2023 the comics added mutant heritage too.

Iman Vellani plays Kamala in the MCU. Ms. Marvel (2022) follows her as a superhero-obsessed 16-year-old whose grandmother's bangle unlocks hard-light powers. The bangle's history leads back through the Partition of India, and her story brings in both Damage Control and the Clandestines.

She then teamed up with Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau in The Marvels (2023). Vellani also voiced her in the animated Marvel Zombies (2025). No new live-action project for Kamala has been confirmed yet.
