A Hollywood satire about Simon Williams, an actor with powers. Self-contained and one of 2026’s better-received Marvel series.
About Wonder Man: Season 1
Wonder Man is a Hollywood comedy set in the MCU. Simon Williams is a struggling actor who secretly has ionic powers, and he can't reveal them because the industry's Doorman Clause bars superpowered people from film work. He lands in an unlikely friendship with Trevor Slattery, the washed-up actor from Iron Man 3, as both chase parts in a remake of the in-universe Wonder Man movie. The Department of Damage Control is also keeping a close eye on Simon.
Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest created the series, with Guest as showrunner. Cretton, James Ponsoldt, Tiffany Johnson and Stella Meghie each directed two episodes. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II plays Simon and Ben Kingsley returns as Trevor, with X Mayo, Zlatko Burić and Arian Moayed as a Damage Control agent. It's a Phase Six series released under the Marvel Spotlight banner, and all eight episodes arrived on Disney+ on January 27, 2026, after strike delays. Critics liked it (91% on Rotten Tomatoes), and Abdul-Mateen earned a Primetime Emmy nomination.

- Marvel renewed it for a second season in March 2026, then canceled that season in July 2026.

- Iron Man 3's twist: Trevor Slattery is an actor hired by Aldrich Killian to play the Mandarin as a front for his own schemes.
How to watch it
It's built to work on its own, as Marvel Spotlight shows are, but Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings make Trevor's arc much richer, and the All Hail the King one-shot helps too. It's an early Phase Six release. Don't skip the black-and-white Doorman episode, since it explains the rule Simon is up against.
