About Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur
Lunella Lafayette is a 13-year-old genius on New York's Lower East Side who ends up with a Tyrannosaurus rex as her partner. With Devil Dinosaur and her friend Casey Calderon, she starts protecting her neighborhood as Moon Girl, keeping it secret from her family.
Steve Loter, Jeffrey M. Howard and Kate Kondell developed it, with Laurence Fishburne and Helen Sugland as executive producers. It premiered on Disney Channel on February 10, 2023, and ran two seasons, ending in March 2025. Diamond White voices Lunella and sings the "Moon Girl Magic" theme, with Fred Tatasciore as Devil, Libe Barer as Casey, and Alfre Woodard, Sasheer Zamata, Jermaine Fowler and Gary Anthony Williams as her family. Raphael Saadiq wrote the music, and the show won five Children's and Family Emmy Awards.
Good to know
- Laurence Fishburne voices Bill Foster, reprising his Ant-Man and the Wasp role, and also voices the Beyonder.
- Cobie Smulders and Samuel L. Jackson voice Maria Hill and Nick Fury.
- Lunella was aged up from 9 in the comics to 13 so social media could play a bigger part.
- Lunella's lab is set in the old New York City Hall subway station.
- A crossover with Spidey and His Amazing Friends aired in November 2024.
How to watch it
Start at season 1 and watch in order, since Lunella's family and her double life develop as the show goes on. It isn't part of the MCU, but the Bill Foster, Nick Fury and Maria Hill appearances are fun for MCU fans. The music and bright, graphic animation are half the appeal. Kids and families are the main audience, though anyone who likes a funny, warm neighborhood hero show will have a good time.
