Why it’s worth knowing about

Styled after the MCU line-up and later retitled for its Ultron, Secret Wars and Black Panther seasons.

About Avengers Assemble

Avengers Assemble opens with the team broken up and Tony Stark trying to bring everyone back together. When the Red Skull steals Iron Man's armor, he gathers villains into a group called the Cabal, and the Avengers have to regroup fast. Falcon, a young former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, joins as the newest member and the viewer's point of view. Over five seasons, the threats grow to include Thanos, Ultron, the Squadron Supreme and the Beyonder, and the line-up keeps changing.

Marvel Animation made the series for Disney XD, where it ran from May 26, 2013, to February 24, 2019, for 127 episodes. The writing group Man of Action developed it, and the show mixes 2D and CGI animation. Its later seasons have subtitles: Ultron Revolution, Secret Wars and Black Panther's Quest. Adrian Pasdar voiced Iron Man (later Mick Wingert), with Roger Craig Smith as Captain America, Fred Tatasciore as Hulk, Travis Willingham as Thor, Laura Bailey as Black Widow, Troy Baker as Hawkeye and Bumper Robinson as Falcon. Some fans of the earlier series found it too kid-focused.

Good to know

How to watch it

This is its own continuity, so it doesn't need to fit anywhere in an MCU watch order, but it's a natural follow-up to The Avengers (2012). Kids and newer fans will like it most. Season 3, Ultron Revolution, and season 4, Secret Wars, have the strongest arcs. If you want something more serious, watch The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes first. Season 5 works well as a standalone for Black Panther fans.
