Wong Watch Order: Every MCU Appearance
To watch Wong in order, start with Doctor Strange and follow the 7 titles below in story order, ending (for now) with She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: Season 1. Wong is the steady hand of the MCU’s magic side, and he ends up Sorcerer Supreme.
The releases run from 2016 to 2022. That works out to 6 films and 1 series season, about 20h 56m of viewing in all.
Who is Wong?
Wong first appeared in Strange Tales #110, cover dated July 1963, created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko. He went unnamed until Strange Tales #119 in April 1964. For decades the comics cast him as Doctor Strange's manservant, the man who kept the Sanctum running and the tea hot, a role later writers worked hard to expand. Scott Derrickson has said plainly that he did not want that version of the character on screen, which set up one of the bigger rewrites the MCU has made to a supporting player.
Benedict Wong took the part in Doctor Strange (2016), playing him as what the actor called a drill sergeant to Kamar-Taj rather than a servant. He is the librarian there, and the job grows until he is the MCU's Sorcerer Supreme. He turns up in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
His run continued through Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2022, where he stands with Strange to protect America Chavez, and the same year he crossed into television in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. There he broke Emil Blonsky out of prison to train as a sorcerer, then found himself opposite Jennifer Walters on Blonsky's parole case and a cease-and-desist aimed at the magician Donny Blaze. He has no confirmed upcoming live-action appearance.
