Gambit Watch Order: Every MCU Appearance
To watch Gambit in order, start with X-Men Origins: Wolverine and follow the 2 titles below in story order, ending (for now) with Deadpool & Wolverine. Remy LeBeau, Gambit, goes from his Fox debut to Channing Tatum’s MCU version.
The releases run from 2009 to 2024. That works out to about 3h 55m of viewing in all. Next up is Avengers: Doomsday.
Who is Gambit?
Gambit is a product of the X-Men's boom years. Chris Claremont and Jim Lee created Remy LeBeau, who turned up in The Uncanny X-Men Annual #14 in July 1990 and The Uncanny X-Men #266 in August 1990, with collectors still arguing over which counts as the real first appearance. He is a Cajun thief raised in the LeBeau Clan of the Thieves' Guild, able to convert potential energy into kinetic energy and famous for charged playing cards. Uncanny X-Men #350 revealed his role in the Mutant Massacre. He married Rogue in 2018.
Taylor Kitsch played him in X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009, the only Fox film to put the character on screen during the studio's run. Channing Tatum signed on in 2014 to star in a solo Gambit movie, which went through three directors and several release dates over five years before Disney canceled it in May 2019, soon after buying Fox. Tatum did get to play Remy in the end, in an MCU film that kept it as a surprise. A.J. LoCascio voices him in X-Men '97.
The same Disney deal that ended the solo film gave Tatum a second route to the role. In March 2025 he was announced as Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for December 18, 2026, and that is the only confirmed plan so far.
Spoiler Spoilers for Gambit’s story: tap to reveal
- Tatum's Gambit debuts in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), as one of the discarded Fox-era characters stranded in the Void. A deleted scene released by Ryan Reynolds implies he survives.

Gambit FAQ
Why was the Gambit movie canceled?
The Channing Tatum solo film spent about five years in development at Fox, losing Rupert Wyatt, Doug Liman and Gore Verbinski as directors along the way. Fox put it on hold while Disney bought the studio, and Disney canceled it in May 2019.
Who plays Gambit in the X-Men movies?
Taylor Kitsch played him in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009). Channing Tatum, long attached to the cancelled solo film, has since played him in the MCU; where he first turns up is a cameo surprise, so it's in the spoiler box on this page.
Is Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday?
Yes. Channing Tatum was announced in March 2025 as Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled for December 18, 2026.
What order should I watch Gambit in?
Go top to bottom. For Gambit, story order and release order are the same, so there’s nothing to rearrange. Start with X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and work forward.
How many titles feature Gambit?
2 so far, released from 2009 to 2024, covering Phase 5 of the MCU, with 1 more announced. That’s about 3h 55m of viewing.
How long does it take to watch every Gambit appearance?
About 3h 55m for both released titles. At two hours an evening, that’s roughly 2 sittings.
Do I need to watch the whole MCU to follow Gambit?
No. These 2 titles tell the character’s own story. One of them is graded Essential, so start there if you’re short on time.
