About Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Season 5

Season 5 throws Coulson and his team into deep space and decades into the future, where Earth has been destroyed and the surviving humans live under Kree control on a space station. Their main enemy in the first half is Kasius, a cruel Kree overseer. Along the way they meet Deke Shaw, a scrappy survivor of that future. The second half brings them home to the present, where they must stop the chain of events that ends the world, while Hydra's General Hale and Glenn Talbot complicate things.

ABC aired the 22 episodes from December 1, 2017, to May 18, 2018, with Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen and Jeffrey Bell running the show. Jeff Ward joined as Deke, and Natalia Cordova-Buckley was promoted to series regular as Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez. Ratings were the show's lowest yet, averaging 3.57 million with DVR, but critics responded well to the space setting and time-travel story. The season holds 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and won a Hollywood Post Alliance award for its visual effects.
