About Ultimate Avengers 2
Rise of the Panther is the direct sequel to Ultimate Avengers, and Marvel planned the two films together. After surviving their first fight with the Chitauri, the team finds the aliens now targeting Africa, and the story centers on Black Panther joining the Avengers. It adds a royal, political angle to the alien-war setup of the first film.
It was the second Marvel Animated Feature from MLG Productions, a joint venture of Lionsgate and Marvel, with animation by Dong Woo Animation. Jeffrey D. Sams voices Black Panther. The film premiered at San Diego Comic-Con on July 22, 2006, and came out on DVD on August 8, less than six months after the first film, running 73 minutes. Together the two Ultimate Avengers films sold more than 1.5 million units by November 2006, and they were paired on Blu-ray in April 2007.
